2013 Spring Campout

Here are the details of Pack 33's Spring Campout on May 11:

Where:
Cedarville State Forest
Intersection of Cedarville Road and Bee Oak Road (see directions at end of the e-mail, I will place signs at the intersection directing you to the camping area)
Brandywine, MD 20613

Time: Saturday May 11.  You may arrive at any time at the Park, but we may not set up Camp until 3:00 pm. (A Friday night group must vacate the campground by 1:00, allowing Park staff to sweep the area)  Allow about an hour drive time from Takoma Park.

What to pack:
Bring a tent. Bring layers and pack for the low.  Evenings are in the 40s, so it could be quite chilly in the evening and morning.  If you need to borrow a tent or anything else, please contact me to see if the Pack can set you up.

Bring your bike! The trail biking is fun and easy here.

Food:
Plan on providing your own Saturday lunch.
The Pack will provide a Saturday barbecue dinner of hamburgers and beef hot dogs as well as some vegetarian items. Please bring a health pre-dinner snack (cut veggies and crackers and cheese have worked well, for example), a side dish, veggies, salad or dessert to share.  Side dishes should serve about 10 people.

PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN PLATES, CUPS AND UTENSILS; THE PACK WILL NOT SUPPLY DISPOSABLE PLATES, CUPS OR UTENSILS AT ANY TIME DURING THE WEEKEND. Don't bring disposables and other trash that someone else has to carry home in their car!   Families should plan to bring their own NON-DISPOSABLE metal or plastic plates, cups and tableware. The Pack will provide a dish washing setup and the boys should be responsible for washing their own plates etc.

Other items:
Den are encouraged to camp together, and to cook breakfast together on Sunday morning.  Many gourmet breakfasts cooked by/with scouts have been known to happen over the years, and the Golden Spatula will once again be bestowed upon the den deemed most worthy (criteria determined by the judges).
