Den Leaders/Parents:

Thank you for participating in this year’s Scouting for Food drive which is an annual collection put on by Scouts from the National Capital Area Council. The food collected will be distributed across our area to support individuals and families in need.

All Pack 33 Scouts are encouraged to participate by distributing flyers this weekend to neighbours asking that they leave their donations on their porch for pick-up on Saturday, November 9th which is a week from this coming Saturday.

Food collection will occur on Saturday, November 9th from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Safeway on Georgia Avenue and Piney Branch Road NW. Pack 33 Webelos will be leading the weigh-in. All participating Scouts should come with their food and sign-in so we can account for their participation. Pack 33 donations will be picked up at 11:00 AM so please arrive during the drop-off window.

Not sure what your Scout should tell neighbours to donate? According to the Capital Area Food Bank, some of the most highly needed items are:

  • Non-perishable food items
  • Canned protein (tuna, salmon, chicken, peanut butter)
  • Soups & stews (beef stew, chilli, meat-based soups)
  • 100% fruit juices (all sizes)
  • Grains (pasta, whole grain pasta, rice, brown rice, boxed macaroni & cheese)
  • Cereals (multi-grain, low sugar such as cheerios, cornflakes, raisin bran, grape nuts, oatmeal)
  • Canned vegetables
  • Canned fruits
  • Condiments
  • Hygiene products (diapers, toilet paper, tissues, soap, toothpaste

Thank you for Scouting for food - your participation makes a difference!
